Hummingbird on Lilac

In 2017, I did a series of step-outs and step-by-step landscapes, which included many for birds and animals as well as plants.

Among the very first was my step-out for the hummingbird, which this drawing is based on.

The Doodlewash prompt today was Yellow Submarine. I tried not to go too Peter Maxx or Heinz Edelman , but it’s hard not to have echoes of them when you are doodling something like this.

I’ve been leaning heavily on the Hahnemühle Black book lately. Actually, I don’t know why I don’t use it more often. The results of color on black paper are so dramatic and it’s quick too!

Black & Blue

If you are looking for the Life Imitates Doodles Weekly Wednesday Giveaway #15 , you can find it here.

The Doodlewash prompt today was Black and Blue. Does blue on black count. I’m going to count it, lol.

I have a Fun & Easy Landscape group that I started a while back, based around step-outs and tutorials that I did. (You can find the list of these here. Note that some of the links take you to my old blog because I haven’t had time to update them.)

Time became an issue and response wasn’t great, so I stopped doing the step-outs. I thought I’d give them a try again. This drawing is one I did to come up with ideas. I’ll be doing step-outs for the tree, the bird and the bush in the near future.

Frog Fun & Easy Step-out

Sorry for so many posts, but I’m trying to add my Fun & Easy Step-outs that didn’t come over to WordPress when I moved from Blogger to WordPress last year.

He looks a little like Kermit, doesn’t he?
