Hog-Nosed Raccoon – Postcards for the Lunch Bag

Doodlewash Prompt. Fruit.

Did you know that animal species, such as this coati that prefer fruit are called frugivores?

The coati is also called a coatimundi, or Hog-Nosed Raccoon. They are members of the raccoon family.

I was so mad – I was almost done with this painting when I spilled water all over it. I was able to save it, but it isn’t nearly as good as it was before the spill.

Doodlewash Doodles – July, Week 1

Artwork-Watercolor, Zebra Zensations Technical Pen & Colored Pencils, Uniball Signo in a Hahnemühle Nostalgie Sketchbook

This month, I’m doodling the prompts in a Hahnemühle Nostalgie Sketchbook, a week’s worth at a time. I’m using mixed media, but because it is World Watercolor Month, watercolor is the main tool.

I’m not very happy with this. I dragged out a cheaper set of watercolors and it turned out that it’s very difficult to use technical pen, gel pen, or colored pencil over it. In fact, I ruined my technical pen and I’m not sure I can save the white gel pen, either. Ah well! Live and learn. Hopefully, next week’s will be better.

And today’s Doodlewash Prompt. Favorite color. I don’t have a favorite color. I’m more about the way colors work together. One of my favorite color combos is Aussie Red Gold and Lavender.

Happy Independence Day for all who celebrate! The rest of you just have a wonderful, fabulous day, too.

Did you know that Benjamin Franklin wrote in a letter to his daughter that he wished the bird chosen to be the emblem of the United States had been the turkey rather than the eagle?

Turtle Texture -Postcards for the Lunch Bag

Did you know that baby turtles use the natural light from the horizon to find their way to the sea? Car headlights, porch lights – any other light can cause them to go in the wrong direction.

And today’s Doodlewash Prompt. Texture. I decided this painting would be all about figuring out how to get the texture of sand. I’m not totally satisfied, but overall, I’m happy with it.

And today’s Doodlewash Prompt. Rejoice. I felt these birds seemed to be rejoicing.

Did you know that owls don’t have eyeballs? Their eyes are immobile tubes that boost depth perception. Fortunately, they can rotate their necks by 270 degrees in order to see in other directions.

And today’s doodle…

Doodlewash Prompt: Owl.
