Do you know the differences between shave ice snow cones? Well, shave ice, as the name implies is made with shaved ice, and has been a Japanese dessert for a millennium or more. It become popular in Hawaii, and then around the world. A snow cone is made with crushed ice and was introduced to the world at the 1919 Texas State Fair.

  1. Oh, memories of shave ice in Maui…hope to return some day. I also had the same idea and sketched my dessert. I sure could use some tonight as we are in another heat wave…well….for over here anyway!
