Did you know there is a Shoebill Stork named Sushi, who lives in the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, who will let you pet him, provided you bow to him first. If you don’t bow, he will fly away and refuse to let you touch him!
The Hahnemühle Grey Pad paper is actually sketchpaper, but it does take light applications of watercolor or gouache well. I love the soft tints I can get on it.

Artist Ambassador for Zebra Pens. I'm a self-taught artist who dances about with all sorts of artistic mediums. My main loves are Watercolor, Zentangle and Ballpoint pen. The subjects of my work are many and varied and change at whim. I'm a little bit crazy, but doesn't that come with being an artist? At my Life Imitates Doodles Blog, I post a list of resource links for Tangles, Tutorials and Giveaways two times a week. I also write reviews, hold giveaways and share my art work.

Those are some big birds. Kinda scary, which I imagine has caused them some trouble like people trying to harm them. That is funny that you have to bow to Sushi. When I was a kid, we visited Mexico City and ate at a restaurant that had a donkey named Pancha. She would drink Coke and beer all day long. You just had to put the bottle in front of her on the floor and she’d drink it. Anywhere else, it was a no go. 😂😂😂
Kind of like Buckbeak in Harry Potter 🤪
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Buckbeak was modeled on the Shoebill.
He’s got a very sneaky look! Love those colors and all that rich texture!
Thanks a bunch!
Thank you so much!

They really do look scary, especially when they do their slow blink, which makes them look a bit like a zombie bird!
