A Compass Rose

  • #DoodlewashOctober2021: Rose.
  • #Inktober2021 prompt: Compass.

Did you know the compass rose first appeared on charts and maps in the 1300’s?

I haven’t had much time for art lately, and I wanted to try out the vintage Sarasa colors — Blue Black · Blue Gray · Green Black · Brown Gray · Red Black, Sepia Black · Dark Gray · Bordeaux Purple· Cassis black · Camel Yellow — so I decided it was a good time to do some stippling.

My compass rose is a bit lop-sided but the stippling gives it some elegance anyway. And it’s easy to stop and start, so I did a little dot -dot-dot here and little dot-dot-dot there.

Artist Ambassador for Zebra Pens. I'm a self-taught artist who dances about with all sorts of artistic mediums. My main loves are Watercolor, Zentangle and Ballpoint pen. The subjects of my work are many and varied and change at whim. I'm a little bit crazy, but doesn't that come with being an artist? At my Life Imitates Doodles Blog, I post a list of resource links for Tangles, Tutorials and Giveaways two times a week. I also write reviews, hold giveaways and share my art work.
