#DoodlewashApril2021 prompt: Dragon.
I’m cheating a little bit. This is a drawing I did for my hubby’s birthday some 38 years ago. It’s been on our wall ever since. It has his face, but the beard and everything else is made up.
Back then, most of my work was done totally in stippling, dot by excruciating dot. Eventually, I got carpal tunnel and arthritis, so I don’t stipple very much anymore.

Oh wow! I bet he loves this piece of art! Oh to be a Dragon rider. Doesnt get any better than that
Many thanks, Alice. It’s definitely one of his favorites! This was inspired the Anne McCaffery Dragon Rider books.
Wow wow wow this is amazing. I understand the stippling pain but I so admire the effect. I love your mor current work as well but it is fascinating to see earlier works and styles. Never dull.
Thanks for sharing
Thank you, Claire! I wish I could do more drawings like this. I bought one of the automated pens that helps a little bit, but even with that I get pain if I do much. Such is getting older.
This must have been 1000 hours of work but what a masterpiece! To get so much character, depth, and dimension is amazing.
Thank you so much, Sharon! I don’t remember for sure, but it probably took about 8-10 hours. I’ve always worked pretty quickly.
You could out-dot Georges Seurat! What a magical, medieval drawing! Brava!
Thank you, Judy! I remember what happened to Georges Seurat, and that’s why I don’t do so much stippling anymore, lol!
I love this one, but then I am a huge fan of dragons and especially the Dragon Riders of Pern. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful piece!
Thank you, Leslie! A fellow Dragon Riders fan!
