#DoodlewashMarch2021 prompt: Potatoes.
Did you know that potato blossoms used to be fashionable? Marie Antoinette made them all the rage when she wore one in her hair.
Out of all the brush shapes, I find the rigger the hardest to use. I decided that I’d use one to try and get all those perspective lines lined up. Phew! Only took about 5 times longer than it needed to, lol. But it did help me keep them lined up.
I also remembered why I don’t do perspective too often. It’s kind of boring. I made some compositional choices that I’m not over pleased with. One of those case where I fell in love with details but they don’t really help the overall painting.

I do not see an image for today’s post (potatoes)
Thank you, Vivian! It was some kind of glitch, and after I reopened and resaved it, the photo showed up.
tons of potato farms here in Maine and they look like your painting. except now when they are buried under a couple feet of snow. we have purple potatoes here, too. their flowers are purple and the inside of the potatoes are lavender color. taste just like potatoes. when kali worked at a French restaurant Maryland – they served purple potatoes there. we thought they were an extravagance. now they are literally everywhere up here
Lol! We grow the purple potatoes here too, though I don’t think they’re as good. Actually, overall, the quality of potatoes here has gone downhill. They’re so starchy, it’s hard to cook them all the way through.
I LOVE this beautiful farm painting. Probably because I just watched “The Biggest Little Farm” last night. I loved it so much! And this is an echo of that! Although, it was designed with lovely organic curving lines in the most magical designs. This has the “magic!”
Thank you so much, Judy!
