Traveling through Faeryland – concept drawing

#DoodlewashFebruary2021 prompts: Fairytale, Frog and Apple

A while back I was taken by the Welsh legend of Corgi dogs pulling faery coaches. It’s something I want to paint, but would be very complex and take scads of time – just in research alone to figure out what the coach and harnesses would look like, and figuring out the perspective.

But the Doodlewash prompt of fairy tale made me think of it, and I thought it would be interesting if there was a frog coachman and an apple coach. So I did a very quick, very rough concept sketch.

I’ll keep it on file and maybe one of these days I’ll actually do something like this.

  1. Well, you HAD me a Corgies!!! This is a wonderfully animated & happy sketch. If you ever do the research….share the finished work! I’ve never heard of this faery legend….and I’m part Welsh! So I may have to look into it! You always have the greatest inspirations for artwork!
