Doodlewash Prompt: Blue Jays. I took the liberty of painting a scrub jay – they’re as blue as blue jays, since none of them are actually blue. It’s just a trick of the light. True fact.
Did you know that jays are related to magpies and crows?

it’s gorgeous, like your style and variation of colours throughout the bird. Enjoy the tip pits you provide on your subjects and being Canadian you would think I would know this, nope. It’s nice to learn something new.
Many thanks, Joan! Even though I’ve been doing this trivia thing for a while, I’m still constantly learning how little I know about the world around me.

we have a lot of crows in Maine. love it when the sunlight hits their feathers and you see that blue-black shine!
We have crows and jays but no magpies. From what I know about crows and jays, I’m just as glad to pass on magpies, lol.
