Doodlewash Prompt: Green Apples. I noticed the apples were plural after painting this, so I’m going with the notion that all the other apples finally sank.
Did you know that an apples float because they are 25% air?
I did have a reference photo that I looked at for this, but I made many changes including turning a red apple green. I really struggled with the water, and values, and there are many things I would do differently now that I see it finished. Overall though, I’m happy with it.

you did great with the water splashing up on the apple!
Thank you, Alice! You’ve made my day, since that part of the painting was totally my imagination. I wasn’t sure it worked.
My first impression was that this was an illustration for a storybook. Now I really want to know why this spunky apple has decided to train for the Summer Olympics in the bobbing race. Or maybe it’s the story of the river journey of a lone green apple to the hands of a homeless child 40 miles downriver! Your work always inspires the imagination by little details or movement or weather or crazy wonderful color.
Thank you, Judy! That’s one of the best compliment I’ve ever had!
Like your concept, beautiful colours and wonderful painting. Most of all your wonderful interpretation of the meaning.
I’m going with the notion that all the other apples finally sank. That is real Humour and a great way to start off my day.
Thanks for being you, have a terrific weekend.
Many thanks Joan! It makes me smile, knowing that I made you smile!
