Did you know that a baby porcupine is called a porcupette?

what a cute name for the baby 🙂 we have these guys in Maine and they are huge up here!
Such a little character and I love that name. I’ve only seen one in the wild…when I was young. Our hunting dogs used to come home with a snout-full of quills occasionally. What a painful ordeal Dad and I would have, him with pliers, me holding onto the rear end of the dog…those barbs were hard to get out of that tender canine muzzle.

I can imagine they would be. We have them here, but they’re pretty shy, and I’ve never seen one except in the zoo!

Thank you, Judy! I’ve only seen them in zoos, but I do know of a dog or two in the neighborhood that met them up close and personal.
