Lotus Blossom of Many Colors

I did a review of Alice Hendon’s ‘More Tangle Starts‘ book a couple of weeks ago. My first thought when I opened the book was that the paper would be fabulous for Origami. So I did one.

I used to do these Lotus Blossoms all the time, but it’s been a while, so it took me days, and I had to redo a lot of it. I did manage to tear in a couple of places because of the redos, but I was actually impressed at how well the paper held up.

Because it’s been so long, I checked out a tutorial. If you are interested in making one of these, the video is here.

  1. Your Origami Lotus Blossom is beautiful. The first origami piece I learned took me over hour and half and it was just a bird. I find doing little things like this are very relaxing. Certainly going to give it a try,. Thanks for the lovely flower and idea.
Take care of yourself & hubby….until the next post….social distancing from Ontario Canada

  2. Hi again, just finished watching You Tube video How to make 20 petal lotus, wow didn’t know this existed, amazing what one can find on you tube besides art video’s. Have lots of paper and a new project to tackle, its the lining up of the paper, edge to edge I seem to either get it or not. I am sure the paper moves slightly on its own, but at least I’ll have fun and hope that one of my cats doesn’t run off with a part of the lotus, they both love playing with paper especially tissue paper. Night

  3. Wow! That is one fantastically gorgeous work of art. It makes me want to make one, too. This is good as I seem to be adrift in a sea of uncertainty for the past many months. Thank you for always sharing your works with us, Sandra Strait. YOU are a treasure in my heart.

  4. So beautiful Sandra. I might have to give this a try…I have lots of origami paper. But with a lotus you could even use all white with yellow center. Meditative….except perhaps for the “assembly!” 😉
Thanks for your every creative energies going through the universe!
