Violet and Sunshine

Artwork-Miya Gouache & Van Gogh Interference Watercolor in a Hahnemühle Black Book

I’m finding that I have trouble with the gouache streaking when I’m trying to do large washes. The black paper I used for this one isn’t formulated for watercolor, so that is part of it, but I’ve had this problem throughout. I’m using a kid’s set of gouache, so that might be it.

Today, I tried to take advantage of it to create beams of sunlight. I’m not totally happy with it, but there’s defintely lots of drama!

  1. I sure like your color palette, Sandra. They are outstanding against the black paper. PS: I forgot where you said the Artist-Miya gouache can be purchased…or is it thru Amazon?

    1. Thank you, Sharon! Yes! I think gouache is a funny word and a pain to spell. I always want to switch the u and a. I had problems with the gouache streaking on this paper, as it’s pretty smooth, but I decided to try and use it. I want to try it again where I go for the look from the beginning because it’s a bit clumsy here.
