Artwork-Miya arts Gouache on Hahnemühle Cézanne Cold Press Paper
I do alright with gouache on colored paper but I definitely need to work on building up my values on white paper! This piece still needs some work, but having run out of time for the day, I think I’ll start over with something new, and try it from a different tactic.

Artist Ambassador for Zebra Pens. I'm a self-taught artist who dances about with all sorts of artistic mediums. My main loves are Watercolor, Zentangle and Ballpoint pen. The subjects of my work are many and varied and change at whim. I'm a little bit crazy, but doesn't that come with being an artist? At my Life Imitates Doodles Blog, I post a list of resource links for Tangles, Tutorials and Giveaways two times a week. I also write reviews, hold giveaways and share my art work.

I absolutely love this painting! Honestly! I agree that the perspective is unusual but it captures the best part of tulip season… the return of blue skies. Where we live, it seems there are months and months of gray. When there are blue skies, it is cause for celebration. The is a celebration of spring, of life, of resurrection and of renewal. I don’t think it lacks anything!
My first response is “don’t add a thing!” This is gorgeous. That vibrant sky the lovely layers of tulip brilliance ~ reminds me of parrot tulips ~ great perspective. Like others, I needed this pop of color as we enter our dark months!!!
Thank you! I don’t know that I would add so much as work on the blends between light and dark. I’m still working my paint/water ratios and the amount of color shift to expect so I’m not always getting the values I want. Doesn’t help when I switch back and forth from white to black paper, either, lol. But that’s what makes it fun.
I think it’s vibrant and lovely!
Thank you, Susan! I do like the colors in this set.
I like the perspective, looking up from below, like an ant would see those colorful tulips. Gouache, Sandra, you sure are good! 😉
Thank you, Kathy! It is really interesting to see how the gouache reacts differently than watercolor.
