Doodlewash prompt Purple Heart.

The purple heart medal always makes me think about my father.  A sniper’s bullet went through his knee on Iwo Jima, fortunately lifting the knee-cap instead of shattering it.  He was so fortunate.  The knee always ached, but was no problem beyond that.

Here’s to all our wounded soldiers!

Artist Ambassador for Zebra Pens. I'm a self-taught artist who dances about with all sorts of artistic mediums. My main loves are Watercolor, Zentangle and Ballpoint pen. The subjects of my work are many and varied and change at whim. I'm a little bit crazy, but doesn't that come with being an artist? At my Life Imitates Doodles Blog, I post a list of resource links for Tangles, Tutorials and Giveaways two times a week. I also write reviews, hold giveaways and share my art work.

  1. Thank you Sandra for making a purple heart. My dad was also wounded in WWII in the Asian Theater when two Kamikazi planes hit his ship, one hitting the bridge killing the Captain and everyone else that was on the bridge. He was down below and got hit with a bunch of shrapnal in his back and arm but he didn’t realize he was wounded as his adrenialine kicked in taking wounded down below to the sick ward. He took so many down before someone told him he was bleeding and should be there as well. He didn’t realize it.
So thank you for sharing this and creating it.
To all those who died serving this nation who would rather have a purple heart that never seeing their loved ones again. Memorial day is a day to remember those we lost.
